about

certainly not geof

Geof has been drawing since he was old enough to mash crayon into carpets and has been involved in creating cartoons and comics since the early 90s. His work has appeared in Punch, Physics World, Fat Chunk, and a number of less-well-known publications such as Under fire, Clint, and the University of York Physics Department Newsletter.

Since 2003 he has been diverting much of his spare time into creating, promoting and distributing his self-published comic Fetishman. The comic is currently stocked by a number of retailers across the UK and the Fetishman stall can regularly be found at comics conventions like UKWMCT, Birmingham International Comics Show, Thought Bubble, Bristol International Comics Expo and Whitby Goth Weekend. He has exhibited work at London's only kinky cafe-gallery Coffee, Cake and Kink and has recently become one of their resident artists.

A career in science has moved Geof from Suffolk to London and then York, but he currently resides in Leeds where the cider is plentiful and the living is as easy as he can just about bear it to be. An exhibition to coincide with the release of the next comic is planned for May 2008.

commission

STATUS: open

There is very little Geof won't consider drawing, but pricing will depend on the time required to complete the job: a cybernetic moon-base in the style of alphonse mucha will take more time than a teddy bear holding a squid. If you wish to retain licensing rights for re-publishing the work this may also incur an increase. For general guidelines on such matters a useful online resource is the association of illustrators.

After agreeing on roughs the final artwork will typically be in the form of a digital file or an a3 or a4 print. Geof's usual drawing method is a mixture of traditional pen work and digital manipulation: as such originals generally do not exist unless specifically requested.

commission a barbarian-you!

(a.k.a. "the fabulous game")

Recently geof drew some barbarian-esque caricatures of certain of his acquaintances, superimposing barbarian-style cartoons atop pre-drawn identical piles-o-skulls (many of which can be seen here). These were well received, and in response to the subsequent demand you are cordially invited to partake of the fabulous game! woo!: basically for each successive caricature the cost of the commission increments in units of £1. Why? well, for a laugh really. If it takes off then geof can have more cider and you can all have barbarian pictures, which is surely no bad thing?

RULES: anyone commissioning a barbarian-ature enters a queue, the person at the front of that queue pays the price of the previous barbarian-ature commission PLUS ONE WHOLE BRITISH POUND; payment will be accepted up front from the person currently at the head of the queue for the agreed price, ater which the artwork will typically be drawn within a month; you will need to provide 3 or more pictures of thy good self or the person in question, including full body shots of them standing as well as head shots; adding a small amount of extra information, like "i like ducks" or somesuch, might be helpful but may well be ignored; adding several sentences detailling exactly how you'd like to be posed would also be amusing but, similarly, such information may well be ignored; you will be emailed the first version and if you don't like it there can be a single re-draw, but this second version will be the final version; you get to keep the a5 original, so you might have to pay for postage; if you don't like these rules then please feel free to commission geof in the normal fashion; geof's word is law; Crom is your god.
